Plot:
Freddy Shaw is infatuated by Molly Hall, a woman who he has never spoken to but had fallen in love with ever since she smiled at him at a bar. From then on he started following her but never approached her because he was scared to get her number. This slowly led to an obsession where she was constantly on his mind and before he knew it she was ‘the one’…
After a few months of Freddie’s constant following, Molly notices him more and feels his presence and so she reported him to the police and got an injunction from the court. However this still doesn’t stop Freddy as he becomes better at concealing himself from her. One night she walks out from a club in London and he is there waiting for her. She thinks she’s being followed and walks in to an alley way where she bumps into a group of youths who are drunk and accidently stab her. Not realising that they have killed her, they run away. Freddy witnesses this but he was too late in saving her and by that time gets seen by a witness who walks past and tells the police he murdered her. He gets wrongly accused for killing her and is sent to prison for 10 years. Within this time the group have all gone their own ways in life, some becoming teachers and getting married. 5 years after his sentencing, Freddy comes out of prison wanting to seek revenge so he tracks them down and gets their loved ones first just like they got his loved one. One by one he dumps them in a basement and tortures them send a live video feed to the five people who killed Molly.

Mise en scene:
We will be using many types of props to make it look real and effective such as fake blood, knife, and various types of clothing to make the characters look real. Street lighting will be used when we’re filming in an exterior setting. The murderers will wear dark clothing, they will have drink bottles, their facial expressions will vary throughout the scene as they will be laughing when they first approach her but when she gets stabbed, they will be shocked and their body language would show horror. Freddy’s facial expressions will stay constant and abrupt.
Molly will be wearing a short dress with heels and heavy make up as she has just been on a night out. Her facial expressions will show fear throughout as she is firstly being followed then confronted by a knife the next.
Freddy’s victims later on will all be crying, make up will be used on the characters to show how hot the room is and blood will also be used to indicate they have been tortured by Freddy.

Cinematography/Photography:
We will be using many different shots, camera angles to portray the trailer, this will have an effect on the way the audience views it, and we will use many sound techniques that would portray the genre and emphasis the story. Non diegetic and diegetic sounds will be used during different scenes.
These are some of the camera techniques we will be using:

Two shot
Close up
Long shot
Close up
Mid shot
Over the shoulder
Tracking shot

Conventions:
We will follow conventions of a horror movie, using the same camera techniques and similar sounds such as screeching, crying, shouting and heavy breathing sounds.

A2 ADVANCED PORTFOLIO

A certificate is used in the beginning, allowing the audience to know that this is an American film

The first shot in this trailer is an establishing shot. This was used for the audience to first see the setting. In the shot, you are able to see there is a lot of traffic, indicating something unusual is going on close by. A group shot was used in the first scene to introduce the protagonist (Brad Pitt) and his family. The reason why Brad Pitt's character is the first to be seen in the trailer is that he is well known in the acting industry, and has thousands of fans around the world who are going to watch this film because of him. In this group shot the audience can see the family having a casual conversation. This allows them to be aware of how this is an ordinary day.

The mood begins to change, starting from a panning shot of a man on motor bike knocking off the protagonist wing mirror and not taking notice. This shot instantly takes the focus to the front of the traffic because that is where the man was riding to. The fact that the man didn’t take notice to breaking someone’s wing mirror connotes that he is focusing on something ahead of him which is much more important to him.

Sound FX of crashing and explosions that were synchronized with the visually image, were used to shock the audience. I believe this was the beginning of the plot.
